If you are going to board or take lessons here you must follow these rules.
- 1. If boarding you must pay for all the horses needs and are not to use other horses supplies to prevent the horses from getting sick.
2. You must wear a helmet when riding at all times.
3. No leaving horses unattended in spots where you should keep an eye on them.
4. Paster gates must be closed at all times.
5.Cigarette smoking, cigar smoking and pipe smoking are prohibited anywhere on property.
6. Most supplies need to be marked with a name.
7. While discipline may be necessary, physical ABUSE of any horse will not be tolerated. Never tie a horse by its reins.
8.Children under the age of 10 are to be under adult supervision at all times. Children are not allowed to climb on the farm implements or fences. No running, yelling or boisterous play, especially when horses are present.
9. Please make sure all tack, brushes, saddles etc are picked up and placed back in the respective area.
10. All boarders that are having a professional visit the barn, such as a farrier, vet, chiropractor or any other scheduled visit for
their horse, must let Buckthorn Stables know in advance to the visit. You must also remain on the premises while the visit is taking place. Do not leave until the visit is complete and everyone has left the property.
11. When trail riding on Buckthorn Stable's land you must stay on designated trails and you must stay in designated sections of
the fields.
12. The stables are open any time for your use but please use good judgment as owners live on property. If you are going to be at the barn past 10:00 PM, please notify Management.
13. No alcohol use will be allowed on property. If you are found to be intoxicated you will be removed from the property at once and your boarding contract will be cancelled immediately.
14. No skate boarding, roller blading, skating or ball playing on the premises. We only allow bikes for transpiration too the barn.
15. You are responsible for cleaning up your messes - please pick up after yourself and your horse. This includes manure in the arenas, barnyard, driveway, grooming area, hoof trimmings/farrier “leftovers”, trimmed hair, and your equipment.
16. After washing your horse please make sure to turn off the water and replace the hose as you found it.
17. All stall doors are to be locked and secured.
18. All riders MUST wear boots (or riding sneakers) with heels and hard soles while working around/riding the horses.
19. If you are the last person here at night, please make sure the barn doors are closed, the lights are off, the feed room is closed and latched, and the tack rooms are locked.
20. Please notify us if you see something that needs attention - a sick horse, a broken rail, a faulty waterer, etc...
21. Any grooming equipment used is to be put away when finished.
22. Boarders are responsible for their guest(s). All guests are expected to follow all of the Stable Rules.
23. Absolutely no dumping anything on the premises, except in designated area.
24. All designated grooming and wash areas shall be kept clean. Be considerate, if your horse(s) make a mess, clean it up.
25. If jumps, barrels or other equipment are taken into an arena, remove them after use and store in the designated areas.
26. Tack room shall be kept clean and neat. Tack rooms must be locked when not in use. Tack and grooming equipment shall be appropriately stored. There are locked storage trunks provided. Any personal property left at the stable complex is not the responsibility of Buckthorn Stables. The horse owner is responsible for all damage to the facility, to personal property or to Buckthorn Stables property caused by the horse or by the owner, except for reasonable wear and tear.
27. Please turn off lights when not in use.
28. There shall be a white board at both main barns. You must leave a note on one of these boards when you go trail riding. Please write down where you intend to ride and please remove this note when you return. If your horse comes back without you, or you don't come back before dark, we want to know when/where to go look for you! (This is a nuisance but it is for your safety!)
29. No cell phones or iPhones during lessons or activities.
These rules will be updated as necessary and are also posted at every barn.
